The early morning air was crisp and clear. Morning birds flew around and sang their sweet morning melodies after their fill of the dissipating night crawlers and other insects that chose to sleep the day away. And as the sky began its transition from dark blues and purples to the more lively shades of the same, a boy stumbled along the forest, unable to fully appreciate the day’s beauty.
Said boy, who would’ve normally noticed the mornings lovely characteristics, had always made it a point to take one night out of the year and drink in honor of the ones loved and lost and that night before was the night he had chosen. As he stumbled along the fresh, dewy grass he sighed and leaned against a tree to rest a bit. It was a long night, one that he had chosen not to sleep through.
